AllSpicer Lacey: Staff Profile

Name: Lacey Echer

When did you start working at AllSpice? I started working at AllSpice on April 11th 2016. (Look, Mom, I stayed somewhere over 9 months!)

How did you come to be at AllSpice? It’s a funny story: My mom was out shopping one day, and she dropped in here. She asked about what was happening in the back, where we jar the spices and blends, and asked if she could work here putting stickers on jars. My mom clearly thought I needed a job more than she did, so she gave me the application — and I applied! I think I fooled them with my innocent school kid look.

What do you do at AllSpice? What don’t I do here? I pretty much will do most anything from jarring, to cleaning, to helping customers. I really enjoy a good project tidying and organizing. Truth be told, I am also pretty much a clown at heart, and I love to make people laugh. Oh, and I sometimes poke fun at the boss when he drops or breaks things. I get silly, and then I am pretty much worthless once I’ve got the giggles.

Bouquet_GarniWhat is your favorite ingredient at the store? I’m crazy about the Bouquet Garni. I put it on everything that I don’t cook from scratch, and makes whatever I season with it feel “all fancy up in here.”

What is your favorite thing to cook or what is your specialty? Definitely Salmon. I like a nice pan-seared salmon made with a little Eureka Lemon Olive Oil drizzled with a balsamic reduction.

What is the most difficult dish you have ever prepared? And would you make it again? I tried making an angel food cake from scratch once, but it was a flop. I will stick with a purchased one in the future.

When someone else is doing the cooking, what is your favorite dish? The boss man’s excellent tortellini, and my mom’s pot roast with real homemade mashed potatoes. I would share some details about it, but momma is tight-lipped with that recipe.

Do you have a food that is your guilty pleasure, and if so, what is it? I am crazy about sautéed green peppers and onions. I literally put them in everything that isn’t dessert.

What is your favorite thing to do at the store? I have the best time helping customers, showing them all the new products. I like to make sure customers take the opportunity to smell and taste the ingredients.

Everyone has their own little niche, their special touch that they bring with them to the store. What do you see as your unique talent that you share with our customers? Well, I am known as the best greeter at the store, I am always enthusiastic to meet new people and help them find things they didn’t know they needed. Oh, I also love to sing and serenade people.

AllSpicer_LaceyWhat is your favorite thing or things to do when you are not at AllSpice? I like to read a lot, and dream about becoming an oncologist when I finish school. I love to listen to Sam Smith and other vocal greats. Nothing moves me, touches my heart like a sad song. Also, I have a crazy dream of someday winning The Voice.

Do you have another job or do you go to school? I also work at Dunkin’ Donuts most mornings. I love getting up early, and starting people’s day with a sweet little morning treat.
