It doesn’t officially begin until this weekend, but it already feels like Autumn here at AllSpice:
1) The nighttime temps dipped down into the 40s several nights this last week, and we’re scrambling to remember where we packed away the sweaters in April;
2) The leaves on the trees along Locust St have begun to turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow – looks gorgeous in the afternoon sun;
Cocoa Powder, Organic Dutch Processed — NEW! In cakes and brownies, the Dutch-processed cocoas tend to produce moister and deeper colored baked goods. (Dust your greased pan with cocoa powder instead of flour for a no-stick super-chocolatey cake.) Dutch process cocoa also creates a darker, richer “mouthfeel” in fourless chocolate tortes, creamy ganaches, and decadent homemade ice cream.
Butternut Squash Seed Oil — NEW! a great addition to all kinds of dishes, from popcorn to soup, from grilled meats and fish to roasted vegetables and polenta.
Mulling spices – for spicing up your apple cider, red wine, or hot tea.
Pumpkin Pie Spice – a blend of “warm” spices: cloves, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and a subtle hint of white pepper.
Apple Pie Spice – the trinity of baking spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, with the finest sugar.
Fall Harvest boxed set – Mulling Spice Blend, Pumpkin Pie Spice, and Apple Pie Spice to envelop your kitchen
Red Apple Balsamic Vinegar – makes a lovely glaze for pork, chicken, and fish, whether on the grill or roasted in the oven.
Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Vinegar – puts me in mind of the fruit butter my Great Grandma made with the windfall pears every autumn. A lovely counterpoint to our sweeter, fruity olive oils, and an excellent salad dressing for strongly-flavored greens, or a fine marinade for lamb or duck.
