Fish: Four Ways

The Christian season of Lent is upon us, and for many households, that means a change in diet as folks set aside red meat, poultry, and pork, in favor of fish. Whether or not you observe Lent, working more fish into your diet is an easy way to incorporate healthy options into your diet.

Preparing fish isn’t all that difficult, and with the help of AllSpice oils and seasoning blends, along with AllSpicer Rory’s advice, it can be so simple you don’t even need a recipe. Here are Rory’s go-to approaches for quick and easy fish entrees.

Thai Rubbed Salmon

This entrée looks like a lot of work, but it’s not! Rory says, “Start by making a paste with our Thai Rub and an unflavored extra virgin olive oil.” Spread the paste liberally on top of the salmon, then top with lemon slices. Pop it in the oven at 450°F and bake until the salmon is cooked through, about 12-14 minutes.

French Citrus Cod

If you love bright lemony citrus flavor or are trying to reduce salt in your diet, this one is for you! Brush your cod (or other white fish) with Eureka Lemon Fused Olive Oil, then dust with French Seafood Seasoning. Pop it in the oven at 400°F and bake until the cod is cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Take care not to overbake. “Citrus can be a great way to get a bit of a zing without using salt, and our French Seafood Seasoning is a salt-free blend,” shared Rory.

Espresso Rubbed Tuna Steaks

Tuna steaks rubbed with our Espresso Rub are a great Friday night entree. Brush your steaks with a bit of unflavored extra virgin olive oil, then top with a hearty sprinkling of the rub. Bake in a 450°F oven for about 5 minutes per half inch of thickness. They are done when the fish will flake with a fork but is still pink in the center. Rory says, “The result is a deep, earthy flavored tuna steak with just a hint of heat. Yum!”

Seasoned Seared Salmon

Or is that Seared Seasoned Salmon? Either way, it’s a tongue twister packed full of flavor! Use it by brushing the salmon with olive oil (Rory recommends our Blood Orange Fused Olive Oil), then coat the top with the Seared Salmon Seasoning. Pan sear the salmon or grill it – either method will produce a tasty salmon entrée sure to be a crowd pleaser.
