Know Your Noodle: Macaroni

Today is National Macaroni Day (yes, there’s a day for that)! How well do you know your noodles? We use the terms macaroni and elbow macaroni interchangeably in the U.S., since it’s the most common variety here; however, macaroni is more than just a shape. Macaroni noodles are made with durum wheat and the recipe does not contain eggs. Its cylindrical shape is produced by extruding the dough, and its signature curve comes from the speed of the extrusion.
