We’re having a holiday kickoff party — in fact, the whole neighborhood’s having a party, and you’re invited!
This Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, marks the 10th Anniversary of East Village Holiday Promenade – one of the most popular events in the Historic East Village, that’s become a holiday tradition for many of our friends and customers.
As is the tradition, Promenade will feature caroling, free horse and carriage rides, boutique shopping and store events from 5-9 p.m. Grab a bite of supper and start the evening with a bang with a fireworks display at 6:20.
Santa comes to Brenton Skating Plaza for a visit during the opening night of skating, and you can catch carollers and a variety of live music groups performing all evening throughout the East Village. New this year is the “Winter Wonderland” Holiday Promenade Window Decorating Contest.
Here at the shop, we’ll have delicious spicy treats to share with you [Mulled Cider, *and* our famous Triple Ginger Cookies, om nom nom]. And you’ll have the opportunity to check out our new collection of themed and boxed gift sets, including GOBBLE: the Turkey Thyme brining kit, the HARVEST: Autumnal Flavors gift box, and the thoughtful SEASONINGS GREETINGS [see what we did there?] gift box – among more than a dozen others. All our boxed sets come with a handy card full of ideas and serving suggestions, delicious contents securely packed and tied in colorful [spice-colored!] jute.
Historic East Village Business Members and Promenade Sponsors will provide bags featuring samples and special offers, plus a shopping and dining map — and ballot for choosing the best window display. Pick up your bag at Brenton Plaza, Baby Boomer’s, or the LifeServe Blood Center [right across the street from us] from 5-7:30 pm [or while supplies last].
The Walnut Street Bridge will be closed during the evening of Promenade for the fireworks, but Locust Street and Grand and Court Avenues will be open. Evening parking is free.
