Spring is rapidly approaching (10 days, y’all), and it’s got us dusting off the grill – and our favorite barbeque blends! You’re probably familiar with the uber-popular blends featured in our Barnyard Gift Box, but there are plenty of other outstanding rubs and blends in the shop we know you’ll love. One of our favorite “underdogs” is our Hickory Barbeque Blend.
It’s the perfect blend for adding the deliciousness of smoky barbecue without the hassle of dragging out the smoker or devoting an entire day to cooking low ‘n slow to get that smoky flavor. Hickory Barbeque Blend’s tasty balance of smokiness, warmth, and sweetness allow it to work well as a standalone seasoning for your meat or as the base for your own homemade blend. It’s even a great addition to barbeque sauces and marinades.
Like many of our rubs and blends, it’s great on pork, chicken, and beef, but don’t be afraid to try it on salmon, potatoes, and other veggies too.
For a tasty seasoned salmon fillet, combine four teaspoons of Hickory Barbeque Blend with a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon Dijon mustard, then spread over salmon. Bake at 400°F for approximately 10 minutes or until salmon is cooked to your desired temperature.
We enjoy seasoning our fries and baked potatoes with a sprinkle or two tableside as a condiment. For use on meats and veggies prior to cooking, we recommend using around 1 tablespoon of the blend per pound.
