Salt (and Salt-and-Pepper) Cellars:
Not to be confused with something to do with your basement, a salt cellar is a container for holding and dispensing salt. It’s one of the earliest surviving kinds of culinary vessels, having been used in kitchens continuously since Roman times!
The folks at Laurelwoodworks hand-craft these elegant oak and walnut salt cellars just for us. They are a beautiful– and practical — addition to any kitchen. It holds approximately 1/4 Cup of salt or ground pepper (comes already stocked with 1/4 cup kosher salt). The smooth-swivel wooden cover keeps the contents dry and clean, and is easy to open and close. This is a pretty enough kitchen tool to leave out on the counter or shelf all the time.
