With Thanksgiving last week, we’ve retired our fall flavors (see ya, pumpkin spiced everything) and we’re hauling out our winter favorites! This week’s Spotlight Spice is Peppermint Extract.
Peppermint has a distinctively warm and minty flavor and is the oldest and most popular flavor for mint confectionary. Its strong minty flavor makes peppermint perfect in candies, desserts, and chocolate sauces. Spearmint, on the other hand, is milder and is often used in savory applications like salads and meat and vegetable dishes.
Our peppermint extract harnesses the herb’s bold flavors by combining the finest peppermint extract with alcohol, which burns off during cooking or baking, leaving the peppermint flavor behind. It’s perfect for holiday cooking.
Try using the extract in ice creams, candies, cookies, cakes, and other baked goods. The flavors are especially good when paired with chocolate. We like to add a little Peppermint Extract to our morning mocha (made with our Café Blend Hot Chocolate, of course).
