Chocolate Peppermint Martini


4 oz Vodka
1 oz Creme de Cocoa
1/4 tsp Peppermint Extract

Peppermint candies to rim the glass


Unwrap several peppermint candies, and transfer to a small, sealed sandwich-sized Ziploc bag. Using a heavy rolling pin, meat tenderizer, or other heavy tool, crush peppermints into a coarse powder. Transfer candies to a broad (4″ or wider), shallow bowl. Set aside.

Fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Add the vodka, creme de cocoa and 2-3 drops (approx 1/4 tsp) Peppermint Extract. Put the lid on the martini shaker, then shake vigorously to chill and combine ingredients.

Dampen a kitchen or paper towel slightly and fold into quarters. Moisten the rim of each martini glass by placing the glass, upside down, on the damp surface of the towel. Immediately rim the dampened martini glass in the crushed peppermints. Set glasses right side up, and strain the chocolate mint cocktail into the glasses.

Garnish with a sprig of fresh peppermint, or with a tiny chocolate wafer, if desired.

Makes two delicious martinis.
