A whole vanilla bean pod garnishes this coffee-tini, giving the cocktail a cat-tail look, a subtle vanilla flavor, and its quirky name.
2 oz Kahlúa [coffee liqueur]
1 oz vodka
1/2 part fresh brewed espresso
1 Vanilla Bean pod for garnish [**can be re-used, see below]
Espresso Brava salt, to rim the glass [optional]
Chocolate syrup [optional]
Combine Kahlua, vodka, and espresso with ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake or stir vigorously until ingredients are combined and chilled.
If desired, moisten the rim of a martini glass [or anoint with a bit of chocolate syrup]. Turn martini glass upside down into a shallow saucer of Espresso Brava salt, to give the drink a delicious salty-coffee boost.
Strain drink into a martini glass. Garnish with single vanilla bean pod.
Makes one delicious serving.
**Because your vanilla beans are not going to be cooked and eaten with this drink, you can reuse the pods in other dishes. Rinse the vanilla bean pods in cool water, and allow to dry completely before storing for later use.
