My Spice Level AllSpice Chili
This recipe, from customer Pamela R. of Norwalk, came in third in our 2019 Iowa State Fair Chili Contest!
INGREDIENTS
1 lb 80% lean ground hamburger
3/4 onion
2 cans white kidney beans
2 cloves garlic
1 29oz can tomato sauce
1 29oz can crushed tomatoes with basil and herbs
1 can black beans
1 can light red kidney beans
1 4oz can diced green chiles
Spice Blend:
3 Tbsp Ancho Chile, Powder
1 Tbsp Cumin, Ground
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp Chile-Coffee Rub
1 tsp Oregano
1/2 tsp Paprika, Premium Grade
1/2 tsp Black Pepper, Fine Ground
1/8 tsp White Pepper, Fine Ground
1/2 tsp Celery Salt
1 tsp Coriander, Ground
1 tsp Onion, Minced
1/2 tsp Chai Spice Blend
STEPS
Mix together all ingredients for the spice blend and set aside.
In a large skillet, brown ground hamburger and onion. Drain excess grease and set aside.
Combine 1 can white kidney beans and peeled garlic cloves in a food processor. Pulse a few times to create a paste. This will be used to thicken your chili.
Add all canned ingredients, hamburger and onion, and bean paste to a large crockpot / slow cooker. Sprinkle half the spice mixture over the top and stir to combine.
Cook on low for 8 hours.
