Spicy Chile Butter


1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons Parmesan or Romano cheese, finely shredded or grated [optional]
1 dried serrano or jalapeño chile pepper, finely chopped
1-1/2 teaspoons lime juice
1/4 teaspoon chili powder


Compound butter [sometimes called herb butter] is butter that has a flavor, or additional ingredient(s) added to it.

Combine ingredients in a mixing bowl using a mixer or wooden spoon.
Cover and chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour [up to 24 hours] to allow flavors to blend.
Allow butter to come to room temperature before serving.
