Super Quick Apple Turnovers
INGREDIENTS
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped in 1/4 – 1/2 inch pieces
1 tube refrigerated biscuit dough
2 Tbsp Caramel Sugar, divided
1/2 tsp Cinnamon, Korintje
1 Tbsp butter, melted
STEPS
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a microwave bowl, toss apple chunks with 1 Tbsp of the Caramel Sugar and all of the cinnamon so that fruit pieces are thoroughly coated. Microwave for 2 1/2 min.
Pop open can of biscuits. Separate out and roll or stretch each piece of dough out into a circle, about 5 inches in diameter. Place a couple tablespoons of spiced apple mixture in the center of each round. Fold dough over to make a half moon shape, and seal edges of the dough by crimping with a fork.
Place turnovers on a baking sheet and brush tops with a little melted butter. Sprinkle remaining Caramel Sugar over the top. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
Transfer turnovers to a wire cooling rack and allow to cool slightly (10-15 minutes). Serve immediately – goes beautifully with vanilla ice cream!
