Chomp and Circumstance Box: Part Care Package, Part Dorm-room ‘Culinary Toolbox’

Have a student in your life who’s just moved away to college? Got a twenty-something who’s setting up housekeeping in their first “real” place of their own?

Our brand spankin’ new Chomp and Circumstance gift box is geared to the needs of these young adults, heading off to college or living on their own for the first time.

Chomp_and_CircumstanceChomp and Circumstance consists of six 1/4 Cup jars of flavorful seasoning blends, each one perfectly suited for bumping up simple foods to the next level:

Five Onion Dip SeasoningFive Onion Dip Seasoning (one of August 29’s Saturday Samples) mixes with plain sour cream (or yogurt) and makes the best chip-dip ever. Use to dip fresh veggies, or dress up a microwaved potato. (Mom made you promise you’d eat something fresh every day, remember?)

Gusto Pizza Co SeasoningGusto Pizza Co Seasoning to dress up frozen (or delivery) pizza. We like to use this spice blend in our olive oil (for bread-dipping), and to make ho-hum Marinara-from-a-jar a little more fancy.

Taco SeasoningTaco Seasoning + Chips + Shredded Cheese = nacho time! Blend with a little mayonnaise for a tasty sandwich condiment, with sour cream for a taco / burrito / quesadilla garnish.

Cheddar-Head Seasoning – Cheddar-Head Seasoning, sprinkled right on hot microwaved popcorn is the clear way to go here. But if you’re feeling, well, extra cheesy, add a little Cheddar-Head to that Easy-Mac for a cheesetastic explosion of flavor.  (We like it on French fries, and tossed with Chex Mix, too).

Shichimi Blend – Mix some Shichimi Seven Flavor Blend into budget ramen or favorite noodle bowl.  The whole and coarsely-ground spices make a tasty wake-up addition to breakfast scrambled eggs, too.

Caramel Sugar – Add Caramel Sugar to your morning coffee or toss in to a batch of popcorn. Sprinkle on top of cookies before baking for an extra level of flavor. Put a little in a bowl and dip your sliced apples in it, add to your favorite hot cereal in the morning. Sprinkle on to of your coffee cake when you have the neighborhood ladies over for coffee. You really can’t go wrong with this delicious sugar;  just substitute for “plain” sugar in anything you are making and BOOM, awesomeness.

You say your kid’s not much of a cook? We thought that might happen, so don’t worry; each jar will have a sticker on the lid (see photo, above), with ideas for easy use.

Perfectly suited to send as a care package, Chomp and Circumstance ($24 for the gift box) comes with a little gift card (we like to call it “The Graduate’s Guide to College Cuisine”), in a nicely-packed box.  Order through the AllSpice online store (or just ask us nicely), and we can even ship it for you!
