Our Dark Chocolate Balsamic is a vinegar nearly everyone tries at the tasting bar. And it’s common to hear something along the lines of, “Mmm, that’s so good! What would I do with it?” Today we’re going to answer that question…several times!
One of the great joys of the tasting bar is trying dozens of vinegar and olive oil combinations to find perfect pairings for your palate (say that three times fast). Nearly all our vinegar flavors make a nice vinaigrette when paired with the perfect olive oil, and this one is no exception. We recommend starting by combining one part Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar and two parts Blood Orange Olive Oil to make a tasty salad dressing. Try it over a spring mix or spinach and add walnuts and mandarin oranges.
Chocolate and fruit is a tasty treat you can’t refute (see what we did there?)! For an easy, yet elegant treat, try drizzling a bit of the Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar over sliced fruit. Pineapple, bananas and berries all make good choices.
Fruit salad? The Dark Chocolate and Blood Orange vinaigrette we mentioned above for salads also makes a great dressing for fruit salads.
Lastly, try macerating fresh berries (our favorite is strawberries) in the Dark Chocolate Balsamic. We like to enjoy them over ice cream or whipped cream – or with just a spoon.
Who needs a chocolate sauce, anyway? This balsamic is amazing drizzled over cheesecake and ice cream. It also makes a deliciously interesting addition to your cheese board – especially nice with hard cheeses like Parmesan and Asiago. For dessert ideas with more than just a drizzle, check out our Vanilla Bean Paste Pots de Creme, Cherry Popover, and Balsamic Truffle recipes.
It wouldn’t be a balsamic if it weren’t good for meat! We like to brush a bit of this balsamic over our chicken or pork right after we take it off the grill. Red meat fan? Try using the Dark Chocolate Balsamic in this marinade, perfect for skirt steak. This balsamic is also a wonderful addition to a traditional mole sauce.
Balsamic jams are a whole category of their own, and are a great opportunity to get creative. Our Bacon & Beer Jam and Strawberry Rhubarb Balsamic Jam recipes are perfect opportunities to use the Dark Chocolate Balsamic to create something tasty and interesting.
