Mark your calendars! Some of our favorite East Village neighborhood traditions are happening over the next several weeks:
This week has the First Friday for the month of June, and in keeping with the East Village tradition, AllSpice will be open this Friday night until 8 pm.
How do you follow a fabulous First Friday in May that was also Cinco de Mayo? In June, you host a First Friday Grill Fest!
On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we invite you to join AllSpice and our neighbors around the East Village neighborhood, as we promote shopping local — and “shopping small” on Small Business Saturday.
What’s Small Business Saturday, you ask? Well, once upon a time, there was a shopping mall free-for-all they called Black Friday. Then, about ten years ago, online-shopping Cyber Monday joined the holiday fray. November 27, 2010 was the first ever Small Business Saturday, a shopping holiday that supports local businesses throughout the US.
Why ‘shop small?’ For starters, you’re helping drive the economy. The approx 28 million small businesses in America drive much of the US economy, accounting for 54% of all US sales. mall businesses drive much of the United States economy.
Also, we’ve got good stuff, and we’re good at what we do. And that makes you look good. Small businesses like AllSpice, and like our neighbors’ shops, offer one-of-a-kind products, local specialties, and excellent customer service. When your loved ones open a present from AllSpice or a favorite little store in the Historic East Village, you earn gift-giving brownie points — for discovering the cool places to shop, for introducing your friends and family to those new places, and for making a positive local economic impact.
AllSpice and Small Business Saturday. We’ve been part of the Small Business Saturday movement every year since we opened, and the shopping holiday gains nationwide momentum every year. According to the Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, more than 95 million people “shopped small” last year on Small Business Saturday, an 8% increase over SBS in 2014.
Be part of the growing base of support for local businesses, and “shop small” this Saturday, November 26.
Always held the Friday before Thanksgiving, Promenade is our official kickoff of the festive season in the East Village neighborhood. Start the holiday season in style, and get a head start on treat-making (and gift-giving!).
Enjoy caroling, ice skating, sparkling holiday lights, festive surprises and an open house at your favorite neighborhood boutiques all evening long.
