Feeling a little blue? Get out the mixer!
Turns out baking can help you feel better. According to a study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology, baking is a creative activity which can help you feel happier and more calm. Who doesn’t need some of that right now?
We needed to test the theory for ourselves, so we pulled out some of our favorite recipes, gathered the best ingredients (we’re looking at you, Vanilla Paste), and got to work! And you know what? It helped. We felt more calm and in control, and of course we were happy. Who isn’t happy devouring a chocolate chip cookie?
If you’re looking for a good place to start, we recommend trying out these award-winning recipes from our Iowa State Fair competitions:
- Spiced Rosemary Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Gingerbread Biscotti
- Pistachio-Chocolate Dipped Cookies
- Orange Blossom Frosted Sugar Cookies
Happy baking (or should we say baking happy?)!
