Heads’ up! Locust Street bridge to close downtown next Monday, August 20

Here we go (again)! The City of Des Moines has announced plans to close the Locust Street bridge over the Des Moines River next Monday, Aug. 20. Construction begins next week to replace the bridge across the Des Moines River, which connects our East Village neighborhood and downtown Des Moines.

As part of this $8 million project, the Locust Street bridge will be demolished and re-built with two lanes of traffic, bicycle lanes and public parking.
